Objective:

- Students will be able to recognize and write the letter Ll, as well as identify and read words that start with the letter Ll.


- Large letter Ll cutout

- Markers

- Whiteboard and markers

- Pictures of objects that start with the letter Ll (e.g. kite, keys, kangaroo)

- Play-dough

- Kindergarten-level worksheets on the letter Ll

1. Introduction:

- Start the lesson by introducing the letter L. Show the uppercase and lowercase letter L and ask the students to repeat the sound of the letter.

2. Letter L Song:

- Sing a song about the letter L to help the students remember the sound and shape of the letter.

3. Writing Practice:

- Provide students with worksheets or individual chalkboards and have them practice writing the letter L. Show them how to properly form the letter and provide guidance as they practice.

4. Letter L Sound Lesson:

- Introduce words that start with the letter L, such as "lion," "ladybug," and "leaf." Have the students repeat the words and emphasize the beginning sound of each word.

5. Art Activity:

- Have the students create an art project related to the letter L. For example, they could make a lion mask or use construction paper to create a collage of objects that start with the letter L.

6. Reading Time:

- Read a story that features words starting with the letter L. Encourage students to listen for and identify the letter L in the book.

7. Letter L Show and Tell:

- Ask students to bring in an object from home that starts with the letter L. During show and tell, have each student explain why their object starts with the letter L.

- To wrap up the lesson, review the letter L and the words that start with it. Have students practice writing the letter L once more and encourage them to look for the letter L in the classroom or in books.
